Search Engine Optimization For Blogs
Some of us students in Alex Jeffreys coaching are struggling to get on top in Google with the keyword “Alex Jeffreys”. Garry Parkes have done some research on why his ranking has dropped in Google.
We have not got any answers yet why the search engine result is like it is. Garry made research and comparison with Steve Harolds blog. Steves blog is higher ranked than Garrys although Steves figures are lower than Garrys. >>>
Organize the structure of the blogs
Maybe one answer is that it’s easier for the search engines to scan Steves blog. On Garrys blog there are a lot of information and I think it is little difficult to organize the blog posts and pages as the search engines want.
Search engines likes web sites that are structured with a top main page. As we all have, the start page. Then there should be pages on the second level. There should be links to all these pages from the start page. On the second level there should be links to pages on the third level from each second level page. (no cross linking)
And there should be no more than 3 levels.
For an example if main page is about Alex Jeffreys. Then we may have 3 second level pages “Internet Marketing”, “Search Engine Optimization” and “Set Up Your Blog”. With “Internet Marketing” we may have “Video Marketing” and so on for the third level.
The sitemap may make a difference for the search engine ranking due to it connects all content and this makes it easier for the search engines to scan the site. The search eninges likes structure.
More details regarding Steves blog
When checking Steves blog you can see that Steve do no use the title name in the link address name. Also that he has Alex Jeffreys List Building Secrets on his main domain name. This should increase his ranking. Anyway I think in the long run it is best to change the link address names to the title names.
But most important of all is the content on the blog and that the visitors find what they want.
