Alex Jeffreys - Trial and Error With Search Engine Optimization

January 23rd, 2009

Today 23rd January my position in Google with the keyword Alex Jeffreys was 21st. Yesterday cialis dosage it was over 60th place. Something with my changes have made these improvements.

I have made many mistakes with search engine optimization with the keywords. But it have been good training. I’m failing forward and some results appears.

Mistakes have occured due to what you can do with the WordPress blog-softare (and what you cannot do) compared with an ordinary web site.

Problem implementing keywords in the H1 tag
I see a problem with that all blog post pages get the same title, AliBlogging - Alex Jeffreys .. - the name of my blog in the heading image. I don’t know how much this influence the keyword ranking. As it is now I can only have the same H1 heading tag for all blog post pages titles. Which means I will have problem to make optimal search engine optimization for other keywords than my blog title words. See earlier blog post about Basic Search Engine Optimization if needed to know more about the meta tags in the header, I have not yet made for the body (the information on the pages).

I mixed up the settings in the SEO-pack and settings in the blog
I mixed up the seo setup in the “All in SEO pack” and the settings for the blog. The blogs title that is the heading text on all blog pages is changed in the settings for the blog. And the settings for only the main title, that is shown on top of the web browsers, is changed directly in the the SEO pack plugin. I missed this setting in the SEO pack. This setting is shown in the search engines results as the link. This is very important and basic. (this text may be little difficult to understand, it’s easier when you are in your blog admin area and do it)

>>Changes I made yesterday for better search engine optimization<<
I have changed to only showing exerpts, intros from the blog posts on the main page. This is important, do you know why?

I do not show my tags because I used Alex Jeffreys as tag and also as a category. When having the keyword Alex Jeffreys both as tag and category creates too many links with the keyword. I must think about how to organize and categorize better. I made some small changes yesterday, but nothing that makes any change for my position for the search engines.

I also corrected my mistake mixing the settings for the SEO pack and the settings for the blog (see above).

Change that I have not made
Also good if possible to arrange all blog post in 2 levels + top level. Maybe it is fine as the WordPress blog software is designed. But for ordinary webpages this is very good help for better ranking.

Search engine ranking after this blog post
As long as you’re not in top ten you must do something about it. I will se if this blog post make any changes. I will keep on testing even if it happens I loose my positions.

Alex Jeffreys is not a high competitive keyword. It should be quite easy to get in top ten. But we are many students that are working with getting high position with the same keyword. It is also volatile goes up and down. Should not be tweaking. Instead focusing on creating more content.

Fresh Search Engine Results With Google

January 7th, 2009

The worst thing with the winter time is getting dressed. Especially when taking the children to kindergarten. This is a struggle every morning and this is a fresh struggle.

But online we often have to deal with struggling through ancient monuments for finding what we are looking for. It is a heavy duty sometimes.

Search engines are like rune stones

On an earlier blog post I wrote about that the search engines are rune stones. Because you often find old outdated sites high ranked in the search results. If an outdated site is high ranked it take place from more current sites. best price cialis This is like a rune stone. If we find a rune stone offline that area is protected by the law and you’re not allowed to build new houses. But this is only for the standard search option. Read more…

DoFollow Or NoFollow For Your Blog?

December 30th, 2008

I’m thinking again about what to do with the NoFollow tag in WordPress blogs..

But most important is to get all content up to the blog,  “Content is King, keyword is Queen” as was said at Alex Jeffreys webinar.

Anyway here is little more about DoFollow:

See at the bottom of this blog post about using a DoFollow logo. What is your opinion about that??

What is the NoFollow tag?
The NoFollow tag is by default in WordPress added to your visitors comments and then your visitors don’t buy price cialis Kamagra Chewable online get any credibility for their activity on your blog. Your visitors should have credibility for adding information on your blog and therefore get their links “followed”.

This means that the search engines follow the link on the comment on your blog to your visitors site and your visitors sites will hopefully get higher ranked in the search engines.

Best solution is to use the DoFollow tag
I think the best solution is to use DoFollow because it is a Win-Win situation. You get more motivated visitors that wants to add valuable information on your blog and at the same time the visitors get credibility for their effort.

Alex Jeffreys coaching group and DoFollow
We in the Alex Jeffreys coaching group should take advantage of the DoFollow tag especially at this moment when we all have recently started and can help each other even more. We are all in a network with real valuable information that together get us higher ranked in the search engines (we have the needed valuable information that visitors are looking for).

When our blogs are more higher “Alexa” ranked it is understandable that we may not use DoFollow.

DoFollow logo
Is it a good idea to have a DoFollow logo or used as a “stamp” that is showing more clearly that a blog use DoFollow? What are your comments? Maybe it’s an overkill? I can’t decide myself.

Anyway my last decision now is that I will not think about this and spend more energy creating content. But this thinking got one extra blog post about this.

Is Google A Rune Stone?

December 23rd, 2008

When I was bicycling home in the dark from the office I saw the moon light up an old rune stone (but I think it is a copy of the real) beside the path. That info is still there, I thought. It will take time to change that info.

Are the search engines rune stones?
The rune stone is very similar to Google or the other search engines. When it is needed to build new houses, the rune stone stop that project. “No no we cannot build any houses here, the rune stone has taken this place” Save the old for the future, but is it useful?

The same thing is happening in the search engines. free cialis For example, I have an old site that I have not done anything to for about 1-2 years now. And it is still in top 10 in Google.

Alex Jeffreys new search engine
Maybe Alex Jeffreys next project is a new fresh search engine. I hope some of the search engines algorithm deletes those web sites that have not been updated the last year. And then I mean delete the web site totally from internet and then it will be open for a new owner to build a new fresh place. This will clean up the web and keep it young and fresh. “What about the oldies??”

Happy for the “crap” sites
It is maybe not the future scenario that the search engines are not like rune stones. And I think we in Alex Jeffreys coaching team should buy Abana online be very happy that there are a lot of “crap” sites. Why?? (coming later)

See you later, must prepare for Christmas now and sleep, we celebrate tomorrow.

I wish you all a Healthy Wealthy Christmas //Ali

Increase Your Search Engine Ranking With DoFollow

December 23rd, 2008

Be aware of the NoFollow tags. Those tags are added to the links in your visitors comments on your blog. This NoFollow tag is buy Hydrea online used as default in WordPress.

What is NoFollow then?
It’s a tag that tells search engines “not to follow” the link and therefore don’t give credibility to an outbound web page. This means that your readers do not get any credibility (and higher ranked in search engines) for their activity on your blog.

A win-win situation with DoFollow
Your readers should get the credibility when they add comments and value to your blog. It’s a win win situation. My advice is that you should install the plugin DoFollow for your WordPress blog. Link to DoFollow download.

What is the purpose with the NoFollow tag?
The NoFollow tag is a help for webmasters to stop spammers for making posts on blogs. The spammers will not get any advantages making links. The problem is that this will affect also links in comments from your valuable readers. The spammers also seems to not care about the NoFollow tag. They spam anyway. My conclusion is that the NoFollow tag is fairly useless.

Protect your blog from spam
Use approve the comments before they are displayed cialis without prescription on your blog in the WordPress “Settings” area (choose “Discussion”). Then you have control over the spam and can delete those comments and those will never be displayed.

How do I know if a blog use the Nofollow tag?
When you are at a page with comments you can view the source code. Choose “View” and then “Source” in your browser toolbar. When the source is displayed you can make a search for “nofollow” in that document. If you do not find any nofollow tag in the comments text the blog appreciate its visitors and is collaborative.

Alex Jeffreys traffic generation competition

December 22nd, 2008

Alex Jeffreys traffic generation competition started last week. But I dont know exactly the rules. Anyway the only thing I have added this weekend is Zimbio and Squidoo pages about internet marketing. And I can already see results in the search engines. Of course I cannot be in top of the most competitive keywords already. And driving traffic is not instant with this method, it will slowly grow, sale cialis I think.

I have also forgot to include the Google Analytics code to the theme I’m using now and then it will be difficult to be in the competition due to no statistics for the traffic.

I have now also fixed the Search Engine Optimization pack for WordPress. I had earlier problems with duplicated meta tags for the “Description” and “Keywords”. This is now fixed and there are no longer duplicated meta tags for keywords and description. The only thing to do was to delete those meta tags in the header.php file for the theme I am using. Contact me if you also need to do this and cannot find out how.

I’m not satisfied with this Theme. It is ok, but there are details that I would like to change etc. But most important is to get things done, such as writing down the content that should be on the blog. Problem is now that I try to do everything at the same time and the result is nothing is done. buy Zovirax online Only a little here and there.

Most important is following Alex Jeffreys strategies. It is many things to do. It is not difficult. Important is to have a plan and stay focused.

Additional info for Search Engine Optimization for WordPress Blogs
I have tried the “All In One SEO Pack”, Search Engine Optimization pack, for WordPress. Since I didn´t know how to manually change the meta tags in the WordPress themes files.

Maybe it is not possible to change because it is database driven? But the SEO pack seems to work fine for WordPress 2.7.

When using the SEO pack the results in the html files are two lines for the keywords meta tag. The first one is empty:
<”meta name=”keywords” content=”">.

The other one is generated by the SEO pack:
<”meta name=”keywords” content=”alex jeffreys, etc, etc”>

Update: I dont know what the search engines think about the extra empty meta tag. But it should not be a problem if this has been the case with older versions of WordPress.

Anyway these extra tags are easy to remove. Choose to edit your theme and choose to edit “header.php”. There you should delete the two meta tags for “Description” and “Keywords”.
